This is a summer painting of a London view that Tom has revisited on many occasions in
winter light. As usual we have a very strong composition with deep perspective taking the
viewer’s eye along the Embankment cycle lane towards Elizabeth Tower, the clock tower
of the Palace of Westminster.

“I tend not to paint the iconic buildings in any city, however this particular view is hard to
ignore. I was attracted by the dappled light in the foreground, which helps draw the eye to
the ambulance in the mid distance and on to the iconic building at the end of the road.” Tom White
