Angela Melkis
I am a full-time professional artist, born and raised in the centre of England, now living in the beautiful centre of rural France. A shy person, from a small child I have always felt the happiest in my own company playing with my paints and being surrounded by nature.
My inspiration comes from the landscape, and the majestic and wise tree is my main muse. Inspiration comes from the way that being in nature makes me feel calm and relaxed.
To help me convey these feelings, when I paint, I relax my body and mind like a form of meditation. It is a process that takes time and care, and as I get drawn further into the subject my imagination goes into another place, away from the hectic world that we live in. This is the experience that my paintings hopefully share with the viewer. My aim is always to paint work that will connect with you emotionally and help you feel the sense of beauty and peace that I had when I painted them.
I am very fortunate to now live in The Berry region of central France. Known as The Green Heart of France, it is stunningly beautiful and very tranquil. A very special part of France, it has been loved by many artists over the years, including Claude Monet. I am finding new inspiration for paintings everywhere I go, and I am very excited to see the direction my work will take.
