Thorie Hinds was born on the Canadian Prairies. She was awarded her Master of Fine Arts in 1982 by the University of Windsor, Ontario, and moved to Britain in 1993.
Working in acrylic and mixed media, she takes her inspiration from the environment around her - marks on a wall or pavement, the shapes of the clouds, remembered images from Canada, the colours of the sky, even music and conversations. The shapes and marks she creates to express her observations are applied with anything from brushes and knives to sticks and rags.
Thorie is a member of the RWA Artist Network and the Devon Arts Network. Very much inspired by the work of Franz Kline and Mark Rothko, Thorie's paintings, rich in both colour and texture, are captivating and immersive.
