George Harding

George studied Fine Art at Chelsea, University of the Arts London. He is an oil painter based in Bristol and is interested in themes surrounding reality and illusion, distortion and fragmentation, semiotics and symbolism.

He gained an international following after being featured on the Lancet Psychiatry front covers in 2015 and has work in the Bethlem Museum of the Mind, London.

His emotive work focuses on the various ways we interpret and experience life, relate to others and understand ourselves. The figurative sources of his paintings are distorted and fragmented though surfaces such as rippled glass and abstracted further through the paints application. “For me the act of painting is a necessity. It speaks to me of emotion and internal feeling that become understood through its making."
